Save Android Application from Vulnerability- Use Webroot and ReKey

Android application is an open source operating system that runs various applications of mobile phones and is free to be used by any company in their mobile devices. Surprisingly these applications are no more secured from the hackers. However, android application has recently developed two security vendors- Webroot and Re Key to detect vulnerability of an android device and check whether it applies patches. This software is released by Northeastern University in Boston in collaboration with vendor Duo Security.

With the increase in the use of mobile devices developed by android, problem of vulnerability will also increase in the future. Google has issued patches to get relief from such vulnerabilities commonly known as “master key” vulnerability. But mobile phone developers and other android application developers have not yet developed patches for their users and hence the problem is going to be very critical very soon as a large number of users are still using vulnerable devices.

These vulnerabilities are very harmful as the attacker can change the android application package file with the help of the master key and the original cryptography signature will be at a risk. Gaining control over cryptographic signature the attacker can destroy the program’s integrity.

Re Key- It is the security tool that alerts the users in case any attacker tries to install itself by using the vulnerabilities. It requires a rooted device to install Re Key as it needs higher privileges while a normal android device have rarely. Several features of Re Key are as follows:

• Remote locking  and swabbing facility

• Implement password protection policies

• Proper management and arrangement of applications

• Can search and trace your devices from the hands of attackers.

Webroot- It also deploys patches in mobile devices and computers. It is a perfect antimalware system. Various features of Webroot are as follows:

• It protects from cyber criminal’s attack and malicious websites
• Obstruct keyloogers and screengrabers
• Does not diverge with other software
• Facilitates save logging to any website by elaborating and safely storing passwords. 

It is in news these days that Webroot has deployed a patch within android’s Jelly Bean 4.1 and Ice Cream Sandwich releases.
